About Us
The Associazione Chiese Vive was founded on December 13, 1994 as a non-profit organization, composed of legal and physical individuals, including the Diocese of Verona and the Parish Organizations which share its goals.
It deals with generally protecting, promoting and maintaining the churches which belong to the Diocese of Verona.
Route for visiting the historical churches
Walking the itinerary proposed by the “Associazione Chiese Vive” in our dear, splendid city of Verona, and entering the places of worship spread throughout the city like precious jewels that form its heart: welcoming, hospitable and open to the lives of people, means being able to encounter the full range of an artistic and architectural ensemble with historical, cultural and religious value, that fills the heart and gives a religious depth to our free time. It is possible to take a journey that retraces the growth of Christianity from its roots in the work of the monastic orders and preachers who developed the ecclesiastical aspects of faith, testimony and devotion to Mary illustrated by the Cathedral complex works, the abbey of San Zeno and the churches of San Fermo Maggiore and Sant’ Anastasia.
Our aim as “Associazione Chiese Vive” is to preserve as much as possible, the heritage that we have received as a gift and to pass it on to future generations. With this book we hope to be able to transmit to all of you the love that we have for these beautiful gifts, which we have received and looked after in our churches, in order to fill our hearts with that culture that points to the work of the Great Architect.

Our goals
The Associazione Chiese Vive is oriented around the protection, restoration, conservation, safeguarding, promotion and enhancement of our churches and sacred places, on artistic, cultural, historic and religious levels. Furthermore, we aim to promote the Christian religion, as well as the estate of the Catholic Church included in the Diocese of Verona. In particular, today our association deals with keeping four historic churches of Verona open to the public, beyond the hours during which mass is held. The idea of keeping these churches open all day and all year long is to permit all people visiting our Town of Verona, tourists and others, to admire it at its fullest. Thanks the presence of our team members, the above-mentioned churches can stay open, illuminated and tidy.
The Association is responsible for making didactic material et al. available to help people understand and appreciate our heritage of art and religion which has survived the ages to reach the present day. A small contribution made by many single individuals, coming from all over the world, make it feasible for these churches to be visited all the time. Consequently, this extraordinary heritage of art and religious expression will be experienced today and passed on the future generations. In addition, every year the Associazione Chiese Vive organizes maintenance and restoration projects of the churches.
